How to Apply Our Fertilizer

Specialty

Acid Loving Plants

(Including Azaleas, Camellias, Rhododendrons, etc.)

STEP 1 Water weekly with solution of 1:300. Ensures a vigorous dark green, stiff stalked plant.
STEP 2 For all continuous watering systems use a solution of 1:1000. Higher application rates may be applied as needed.

Cotton

STEP 1 Apply 15 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 When plants are 5-6 inches in height, apply 7.5 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17).

Grapes

STEP 1 Apply 25 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 Use 10 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17) per application. Apply when leaves first emerge, pre-bloom, and at 10-14 day intervals thereafter or until grapes are on-third of full size.

Potatos (Foliar Application)

PowerRich Balanced Fertility Program may produce higher quality, high volume and a lot more marketable potatoes.

STEP 1 When plants are 3-4 inches (6-8 cm) high, apply one or two sprays of PowerFol (10-30-20) at a rate of 5 lbs. per acre.
STEP 2 Later in the growing season, applications of PowerFol (23-17-17) at 5 lbs. per acre can be used to improve foliage color and tuber development when soil conditions are favorable. Potatoes set the majority of tubers between the 70th and 100th day after planting. Foliar feeding can help carry the plant through adverse soil and temperature conditions which may occur during this critical period.

Bedding Plants

STEP 1 Soak the peat for the seed or potting compost in seaweed solution.
STEP 2 Water weekly with a 1:400 solution. Ensures a vigorous dark green, stiff stalked plant which sells itself and which gets away with greater speed when planted out.

Cranberries

STEP 1 Use 15 lbs. of PowerPak (6-17-17) per acre at seeding time.
STEP 2 Use 10-15 lbs. of PowerFol (23-17-17) per acre, per application. First application a popcorn stage, repeat at hooking and 10-14 days later.

Hops

STEP 1 Use 10 lbs. of PowerPak (6-17-17) per acre at seeding time.
STEP 2 Use 10 lbs. of PowerFol (23-17-17) per acre, per application. Begin applying when vines are between 2-3 feet in length. Repeat at 14-21 day intervals throughout the growing season.

Potted Plants

DIRECTIONS Soak the peat or compost for the seed in 1:400 weekly. Seaweed solution for earlier and more vigorous plants. Cyclamen, primulas and cinerarias respond particularly well to frequent waterings with 1:1000 solution.

Berries

(Including strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, etc.)

STEP 1 Use 15 lbs. of PowerPak (6-17-17) per acre if planting new trees.
STEP 2 Foliar feed 10 lbs. PowerFol (23-17-17) per acre when plants green up in the spring and repeat every 2 weeks throughout the growing season.

Daffodils

STEP 1 Water at planting time with 1:400 solution.
STEP 2 Then water with 1:1000 solution at each watering after they are brought into the heat. This will give a long strong stalked bloom, which stands up longer and arrives at market in better condition.

Hyacinths

STEP 1 Water at planting time with 1:400 solution.
STEP 2 Then water with 1:1000 solution at each watering after they are brought into the heat. This will give a long strong stalked bloom, which stands up longer and arrives at market in better condition.

Rice

STEP 1 Apply 20 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 Use 10 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17) per application. First application at 3-4 leaf stage.
STEP 3 Second application prior to flowering.

Broccoli

STEP 1 Apply 20 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 When plants are 5-6 inches in height, apply 10 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17). May be repeated in 2-3 weeks if required.

Dahlias

STEP 1 To produce more and better cuttings, feed the stock plant with a solution of 1:200 about 4 weeks before cuttings are taken.
STEP 2 Soak both the cuttings and rooting medium in a solution of 1:400 for quicker and better root formation.
STEP 3 Use 1:1000 solution in continuous watering systems. Apply foliar spray 1:400 weekly or 1:800 every 2-3 days. Seaweed solution will improve the color of the blooms and the appearance of the plant.

Leafy Vegetables

(Including Cole Crops, Lettuce, etc.)

STEP 1 Apply 10 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 Use 7.5 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17) per application. Apply when leaves are 4-5 inches in height. Apply soon after thinning or transplanting.
STEP 3 Repeat every 10-14 days or as leaf analysis indicates.

Roses

STEP 1 Foliar spray with a 1:400 solution weekly.
STEP 2 At the end of the flowering season, feed with a 1:200 solution to bring bushes back into condition.

Cabbage

STEP 1 Apply 25 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 When leaves are 4-5 inches in height, foliar feed 7.5 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17). May be repeated in 2-3 weeks if required.

Deciduous Fruit & Nut

(Includes almonds, apples, cherries, filberts, peaches, pears, pecans, pistachios, plums, prunes and walnuts.)

STEP 1 Apply 40 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 Begin growing season by applying 10 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17) when leaves are at least one half size (photosynthesis must be taking place).
STEP 3 ncrease application rate to 10-15 lbs. per acre for pre-bloom application and repeat again at post-bloom. A post harvest application of 20-30 lbs. should enhance tree vigor and increase nutrient levels in the fruit set the following year.

Melons

STEP 1 Apply 15 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 Use 10 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17) per application. Apply first application prior to bloom.
STEP 3 Additional applications at 10-14 day intervals after fruit begins to set and for constant feed program.

Sesame Seeds

STEP 1 Apply 15 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 When plants are 4-5 inches high, apply 7.5 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17).
STEP 3 2-3 weeks later, apply a second application of 7.5 lbs. per acre.

Carnations

STEP 1 To produce more and better cuttings, feed the stock plant with a solution of 1:200 about 4 weeks before cuttings are taken.

STEP 2 When plants reach 4-5 inches in height, apply 7.5 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17).

Soya Beans (Dryland)

STEP 1 Apply 10 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 When plants are 4-5 inches in height, foliar spray 5 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17).

Soya Beans (Irrigation)

STEP 1 Apply 15 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 Apply the first spray to the crop, 7.5 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17).
STEP 3 2-3 weeks later apply a second spray to the crop, 7.5 lbs. per acre.

Carrots

STEP 1 Apply 15 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 When plants are 5-6 inches in height, apply 10 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17).
STEP 3 Repeat in 2-3 weeks.

Fuschias

DIRECTIONS Use seaweed solution at a dilution rate of 1:400 weekly. Seaweed solution supplies the extra nutrients for bud formation.

Onions & Garlic

STEP 1 Use 25 pounds of PowerPak (6-17-17) per acre at seeding time.
STEP 2 When plants reach 6-8 inches in height, foliar spray with 5 lbs. PowerFol (23-17-17) per acre and continue applying in 2-3 week intervals.

Sugar Beets

PowerRich Balanced Fertility Program may promote higher sugar production and more tonnage per acre.

STEP 1 Apply 10-20 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) granular blend in row at seeding time.
STEP 2 Foliar feed PowerFol (23-17-17) when leaves are at the 2 to 3 leaf stage. Plants may be foliar fed in two week intervals until maturity.

Cauliflower

STEP 1 Apply 20 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 When leaves are 5-6 inches in height, foliar spray 10 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17).

Garden Beans

STEP 1 Apply 15 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 When plants are 5-6 inches in height, foliar spray 10 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17). May be repeated if required.

Peanuts

STEP 1 Apply 25 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 When plants reach 4-5 inches in height, apply 7.5 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17).
STEP 3 2-3 weeks later, repeat 7.5 lbs. per acre.

Sweet Potatos & Yams

STEP 1 Apply 25 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 When plants are 3-4 inches in height, apply 5 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17).
STEP 3 Foliar feed plants at 10-14 day intervals until blossom.

Citrus Trees

STEP 1 Apply 40 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 To start the growing season apply 10 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17) when leaves have reached between one-half and full size.
STEP 3 Repeat again in 2 weeks, prior to bloom, post-bloom, and a final application of 20-30 lbs. before the tree goes into dormant stage to enhance fruit set the following season and increase tree vigor.

Garden Beets

STEP 1 Apply 25 lbs. of PowerPak (6-17-17) per acre at seeding time.
STEP 2 When leaves are 4-5 inches in height, apply 7.5 lbs. PowerFol (23-17-17) per acre and continue applying in 2-3 week intervals.

Pelargoniums

STEP 2 Use 5 lbs. of PowerFol (23-17-17) per acre at first spray and every 2 weeks for 8 weeks.
* For transplanting tomatoes, we recommend PowerRoot (1-2-1) as a root dip.

Coffee Shrubs

STEP 1 Apply 25 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 Begin the growing season by applying 10 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17) as soon as the plants start green up.
STEP 3 Increase application rate according to the size of the shrubs to 10 lbs and apply at 2-3 week intervals until harvest is complete.

Geraniums

STEP 1 To produce more and better cuttings, feed the stock plant with a solution of 1:200 about 4 weeks before cuttings are taken.

(For first and second years)

STEP 1 Apply 25 lbs. per acre of PowerPak (6-17-17) at seeding time.
STEP 2 When plants green up, apply 10 lbs. per acre of PowerFol (23-17-17).
STEP 3 14 days later apply a second application. In some areas, a third spray can be done at 10 lbs per acre.
